Really Short Teachings
written or heard by Jay Michaelson

Torah and dharma are sometimes complicated. Sometimes it's hard for me to remember exactly why I hold a particular view, or why I do the things I do. How did I get myself into this mess, I wonder.

It's at such times that really short teachings are so useful. Sure, bumper-sticker spirituality doesn't get you anywhere. But short reminders, little specks of light, can really help cut through the vines of over-thinking to what lies beneath.

I really encourage you to read no more than two or three of these at a time. I find that when I click through a lot of little teachings like this, it's like popping candies into my mouth. Really, it would be more satisfying to linger with the flavor of a single one -- but I get into a rhythm, and pretty soon the whole box of chocolates is gone before I've really tasted any of them. So, my advice is -- read one or two, and save the rest for later. They'll taste better.
